No. We are not angry, mad nor are we waving pitch forks around. We have moved beyond that, especially when given the fact we've been left to stew for 3 days. We are also beyond simple appologies and kiss & makeup.
The fundemental problem we, as your player base, have is not the cost of the NeX store (which is outrageous but whatever that's a two second fix by a DBA) it is perhaps the simple, now quite indisputable, fact that the lead designer of EVE:Online wants to sell us ships, modules and ammo for real world cash. Ships, modules & ammo which will be superior to anything in the game: we, your player base, understand what "items of power" mean, we also understand the implications of doing that: something the lead designer apparently does not.
And before people rush in to remind me that it's his opinion. Yes, I am aware of that and understand what the word opinion means. I also understand what the words Lead Developer mean and imply as well.
CQ is frankly a farce. There is litterally nothing to do but sit on a sofa and buy virtual items (for real money) that cost more than their real world counterparts. If I turn it off I am shown, litterally, the door. We, your long term player base, saw the tech demo's of Incarna all those years ago. Even as a alpha grade tech demo it had more 'things' to do (including sitting in a bar watching the foot traffic) than this. There hasn't been feature creap there's been a night of the long knives. Added to which it is apparently killing computers.
And those are just some of the issues we're having.

This... Is excellent. Just excellent.
It's so... awesome. So simple, so elegant...
But moving on. Did I just CCP Manifest pull an "All I want for christmas is a PSP"? You remember that PR disaster for Sony right? The end post on the 'blog' by the PR company where they insinuated that we (the potential customers) weren't hip and happening enough to get it?
Did you just insinuate we can't comprehend the logic behind CCP's decisions? Ya know because it'd be funny if in the middle of a PR disaster we just caught one of the PR people calling the customers dumb.... to their (virtual) faces. Pants on head ******ed indeed.

Incidentally, I'm a banker irl, and even I found the tone of that pdf contemptible. So there you go, you've actually caused moral disgust from a banker. Well done.
So we've had PIE & Star Fraction agreeing and now a banker feeling something in his dark and twisted heart (you did leave that one open dude). Now have RvB retracted their wardec's yet? It's the third sign...
This is not good CCP. Not good at all.

Is there anything else you've lied to the playerbase about (MT for vanity ONLY) that we might like to know about?
Soundwave will NOT be fired nor should he. I personally would not like to see one of the driving forces behind the Alliance Tournament and the spiritual leader of Team BFF take a fall for agreeing to present one opposing side of the microtransaction debate in an internal newsletter.
I have seen people given written warnings, reprimands and indeed escorted from the building by security for a lot less than airing their opinion in a company news letter when it was the company who asked for it (their opinion) in the first place.
I too do not wish to see anyone fired. It's not like he was spawning T2 BPO's for his friends or anything. But that, right there, is a written warning in any large business. I'm sorry but it is.

One thing I'd like to point out, although my memory is a bit off.
During the fanfest presentations about Incarna, at least once it was said we'd be able to build shops & bars and that stations would have sockets we could bolt our builds on to (for a price in ISK much like renting a corp office somewhere) and these would be limited so prime locations would be expensive... fair enough.
It was intimated that CCP would be providing us templates with some tools and be left pretty much to our own devices so we, as players, could build our brands in EVE.
True there was some pshawing about this being SL in Space and a few comments about furries inbound but it seemed agreed by the majority that yes, this would be a good thing. There are a lot of talented EVE players after all and it seemed the most cost effective way of generating all the content Incarna would need.
So... with NeX providing all of our Incarna content... why, exactly, would I build a bar/shop/coffee house/hash bar/whatever in a station?

This was what I was talking about in my earlier post. If the whole point of this expansion is adding immersion to the game, player (or NPC, but preferably player) -run shops in stations providing these items would add to that far more than a little window in the CQ ever could.
Aye I'm actually one of those sado's that'll sit there playing with a crafting system all day and be very happy with myself (I spent years faffing around with the NWN toolset just because). So that original vision had "You will need more ISK" stamped all over it... and I was overjoyed.

I can tell you guys this much though. I will get home, open my minimum spec meeting macbook and see 48 thousand odd users logged in, and when I log in next month it will almost certainly be the same.
My account is cancelled. Are you guys just full of hot air or is yours cancelled too?
Waiting. It's only two accounts but it depends on how CCP respond. But no, I'm not one of those people logged in. But if they make me wait much longer I'm just pushing the damn buttons and be done with it.

Originally by: Stray Kat CCP's vision for EVE as a total SciFi experience has not been bought into by the majority of the playerbase and they are kicking and screaming every step of the way. With each step that gets closer to that vision the emotional backlash hits a new level.
You are very very wrong. Go and watch the fanfest video's, not just the CCP ones but all of them that predate CCP's YouTube account.
Atmospheric flight: applause and cheering. Incarna tech demo: pretty much a standing ovation. PI mock ups and description: applause and cheering. Incursions (i.e. group PvE): applause because we like doing things in groups. Sov changes: applause because to hell with tower spamming.
At no point did anyone go "I honestly don't want this" sure some people voiced concerns, others asked hard questions but we're all here because of that all encompassing SciFi simulation thing CCP have been trying to deliver.
Now... go and look at what we've got. Go compare the vision for PI with the reality, go look at the sov mechanics and start comparing. I still can't do a straffing run on a planet in a frigate.
At no point has CCP not had buyin for that vision from the playerbase. The backlash has been getting worse because they've been straying ever further from that very vision.

PR (in this case dmg control) works fine when used in the right moment, that moment is almost over
It's long since past I'm afraid. Damage control worked fine for Tyrannis and the others, but we're at the juncture where CCP employees were on record as saying "No MT in EVE ever" and there are MT's in EVE (be they Macro or Micro). That's a problem but vanity items only some of us will begrudgingly accept. Then it turns out that's phase 1 and in reality they'll be selling us nifty things to kill each other with. I missed the Scorpion for AUR thing.
Damage control? I don't think a fleet of Guardians going fullbore could keep that ship up.

Not one DEV post in this thread now in 11 hours....
my guess is they dont have anything to say that we will want to hear. They can say sorry all they like, but if it doesnt change their minds on where they want the game to go, then their apologies are empty.
Perhaps and this is my only hope for the game. Anyone with any coding experience has been rummaging through the codebase finding stuff they can fix, tweak, repair or otherwise leave annotations for more meaty resources to plunder. PR has been busy writing a speach for Hilmar to say to camera and they're trying to remember how to do a video stream.
I, like a lot of players here don't *really* want to click the button. We love this damn game and frankly it feels like CCP are just sat there going "Well FU we'll just get lots of new players in". And yes I know that makes me a sado basment dwelling dreg.
Where from though CCP? WoW? Hardly. Trekies? They're off in STO. SciFi action MMOers? They've got their game now with more on the way. Mecha-heads? Perpetum (sp?). Star Wars fans? Erm... yeah... something about an ancient form of government appearing soon I remember reading about.
There are only so many MMO players out there and of those only so many want a multifaceted multiplayer Elite like sandbox game. About 300,000 - 400,000 I'd wager.

We've moved beyond it being representative of official policy. I'll cover this one. A year ago CCP said no MT in EVE ever. We have MT in EVE. We all thought MT would mean MICRO... we were all annoyed to discover we were wrong.
The newsletter, whilst being an opinion/discussion piece is the, apparent, opinion of the lead designer of this very game. We are described in terms that are... unsavory.
It has been pointed out by ex-employees and others that quite often what is featured in this newsletter comes to pass.

It's been fun folks, I've shot at and been shot at a lot of people. Never did manage to get that Archon either :(
I'm going to miss this game.
No. You can't have it.
And Jeff's a nub, you really want some T1 autocannons? lulz.
For CCP, who are hard of counting. That's -2 subscribers.

CQ is not optional. NeX prices are correct. More goods will be added, some of them will cost more than the $60 monocle. The question of non-vanity items for $$ is being avoided. Someone half paranoid would think it's because the answer is "Yes" and they don't want to completley slaughter the playerbase until the winter expansion.
